Bright and Bold by Jackie Clark

Hello Blue Fern fans! Jackie with you here today, taking a break from our family's seaside summer vacation to share my July, summer-inspired projects. I have two very different projects for you today; the first light, airy and summery, and the second darker and more sultry, like those warm summer nights.

Sometimes you see a piece of chipboard, and a project starts to take shape in your mind. That's what happened for me with the Butterfly Grid. I saw it, and a project started to evolve. I knew that I wanted to pair it with the Butterfly Kisses title and the Tattered Butterflies, and my layout grew out of that.

One of the glorious things about the Blue Fern Studios panels is the ability to cut them apart and use them in whatever way best suits your project. I cut mine into the big piece on the left and the smaller piece on the right, and have some leftover for another project. I primed the whole thing with gesso, and then set about colouring the butterflies with shimmery watercolour paints.

For the grid piece on the right I added one of the Tattered Butterflies to coordinate with the butterflies in the Butterfly Grid.

For the Butterfly Kisses title piece I sprinkled on embossing powders in pink, blue and yellow randomly and heat set them.

The colours of the Ombre Dreams papers inspired my colour choices, and I loaded on media in the background to create a fun, sunny layout.

- Chipboard: Butterfly Grid, Butterfly Kisses, Tattered Butterflies

My second layout has a darker colour scheme, but it still evokes summery memories for me, as the picture was taken on my honeymoon, during a very hot summer in Bordeaux - that's my (then) new husband's hand holding the wineglass; hard to believe it's been 11 years!

Although the picture is anything but industrial in nature, the Industrial Corner and Working Parts chippies just seemed like a natural fit. For some reason I pictured them a deep, dark red, but I didn't have a red embossing powder. Not to worry, I used a red acrylic glaze, and added clear embossing powder overtop while it was still wet and heat set it. I then added embossing ink randomly throughout and added both gold and a silver/black embossing powder.

Here's a look at one of the finished pieces.

Thank you so much for stopping in to view my projects today! We love to see what you create with Blue Fern Studios products, so be sure to keep posting your creations to our Facebook page and our Gallery.

Round & Round Circular Designs- by Keren Tamir

Keren here and its my turn today on the Blue Fern Studios blog. I have an all around theme this month which is "Circles". I have used different circular designs this month to create each of my layouts. I hope they inspire you to create with circles and love them just as much as I do!!!

First up is:

"Good Vibes"

I used the Ombré Dreams- Leslie's Dream paper as a background for this layout.

I just love using circular designs on my layouts and I tried to incorporate different circle motifs in each of these layouts. I also used stencils and stamps to create different textured circles in the background.

I framed this cute photo of my daughter picking strawberries in the field with the treasured floral chipboard frame. I primed it with gesso and then colored it with markers.

Then I added circles from the Circle Group set which were coloured in yellow marker. finally I added the Good Vibes title on the side because she's truly just so happy here!!

"Joy"

For this layout I used the Techno rings to frame the photo of my daughter painting and one of the words from the Ombré Dreams- Dream Cards paper.  First I primed them with gesso, Then I painted them with gelatos and added some stickles glitter. I also stamped them with a circular stitched stamp (which is the same stamp used on the background). Finally I created white lines on them with a white acrylic marker.

I used the Ombré Dreams- Joyce's dream and matched all the embellishments and inks to it.

my daughter had so much fun using the dropper to create splatters on the page. It gave me so much joy watching her and so I used the Joy title from the Good Vibes chipboard word set.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

"Natural"

I used the Ombré Dreams- Susan's Dream as the background for this layout and added some layers with the Dream Cards paper.

Finally I want to show you the layout I created for the July sketch challenge. I also happened to use a circular motif so I thought I'd share the design.

The small circle flourish chipboard frame was perfect to frame this natural looking photo of my daughter.

I also used the bohemian flowers, little birds and a frame trinket to to add to the natural look. Finally I added the natural title from the All Natural word set.

Thank you so much for visiting the Blue Fern Studios blog today. You can still enter the July sketch Challenge Here

Have a wonderful day!!

Hello everyone, today I'm sharing a few tags with you.  The BFS Roman Clock Set comes in three sizes in one package.  The smallest of the three is just perfect for a tag or card. Here the clock looks a little weathered with some molding paste applied around the circumference of the clock. I am already looking forward to using the remaining two clock chipboard pieces on future creations.

The last tag was created using the Juliana’s Dream page from the Ombre Dream paper collection and one of the Layering Stems chipboard collection. Here a little textured product was applied on top of the chipboard and then misted and painted.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting us, and remember there’s still time to submit your take on the July Sketch Challenge.  Here’s my take on the sketch using the Susan's Dreams paper from the Ombre Collection....the perfect pattern placement that is made a part of the paper did all the work for me:

Three cards by Evgenia

Hello dear friends! its Evgenia Petzer with you today and I made three cards for you, all of them use Ombre Dreams collection and all of them have something in common, i like to make series of cards and hope that you will get inspired as well.

The first one uses Brigitte Butterfly Set, i coloured them with gesso first and then applied silks paint on it. I think its my favorite out of these three.

All the sentiments on all three cards are alss from Ombre dreams papers, the second card uses: Symphony Border, Petite Windows.
The chipboard is colored with pearl paint by Martha Stewart. I reaaly like that apple shape for the cards.

and the last one for today, I love that Symphony border chipboard and i often cut it in smaller pieces.

Three cards by Marie-Josée

Hello all!

Today, I am featuring three cards that I created with the Ombré Dreams collection. Here they are!

For the first card, I used the Shannon's Dream and Joyce's Dream papers.

I also used two pieces of chipboard, a piece of the Layering Stems (altered with Silks Acrylic Glazes) as well as the Country Picket Fence (altered with Gelatos). I cut the fence because it was too big for my card.

For the second card, once again, I used the Shannon's Dream and Joyce's Dream papers.

I also used two pieces of chipboard, a piece of the Berry Stems set as well as a piece from the Little Baskets set. Both were altered with mists.

For the third card, I used the Charlotte's Dream and Shannon's Dream papers. I also used the Village Sign Post chipboard, altered with Silks Acrylic Glazes.
