My First DT Projects By Angelica Franssen

Hello everyone! Angelica here with you today. I'm so excited to finally share my very first  projects as Blue Fern Studios designer. I’m so delighted to be part of a team with amazing designers and fantastic products. I hope this year you’ll be inspired by my projects. Here is a little bit about me….

My name is Angelica and I’m a stay-at-home mom. I’ve been married for sixteen years and have four children. I first started scrapbooking about fifteen years ago while my husband was serving in the military. He was frequently deployed and I needed something to keep me occupied. I wasn't a crafter until I found scrapbooking and never looked backed.  I love the art it's become today. I'm very passionate about scrapbooking and this has led me achieve a small successful business on Etsy.

You can find me at my blog
http://angelicascrappenings.blogspot.com/
This is my first project based on the sketch:
I used the Meadows of Time, Botanical Garden and Calling Cards pattern paper from the Sanctuary Collection. I painted the Grunge Frame chippy randomly with gesso and misted it. Once it was dry I added just a tad bit of burgundy paint.

For this layout I used the Garden Plaza and Conservatory papers also from the Sanctuary Collection. I did some layering with the Large Roman Clock pieces. Painting them with gesso then adding some textured paint.  Once dried I place the small clock on top of the large.

The Butterfly Grid had to be my most favorite piece. If you know me, you know I adore butterflies. I painted the grid and adhered it to the Boudoir pattern paper. Then, I layered the Tattered Butterflies over larger butterflies on the grid. Making it three dimensional.

Thank you for taking the time.....see you next month!!!

My first 2015 Creations- By Keren Tamir

Hi everyone, Keren here excited to share my Blue Fern Studios creations for a second year and I can't wait to share them with you!!

Here is a little bit more about myself and then two of my creations for this month!!

My name is Keren Tamir and I live in Canada. I am a wife to a wonderful husband who is very supportive of my scrapbooking and a mother of two amazing kids; a 13 year old boy and a 8 year old girl. I’ve been scrapbooking for 11 years and I mainly scrapbook about my family.
I love to create and experiment with many different mediums and techniques. I also love using lots of flowers and vines in my projects. My style is always evolving and that’s one of the things I love about this art.
One of the main reasons I started scrapbooking was to preserve memories and photos for my children. However over the couple of years, I’ve started to enjoy another aspect of scrapbooking. I love the artistic outlet that it gives me. I love to create and I’m passionate about what I do.
I’m delighted to join Blue Fern Studios Design team for a second year. To see more of my art please visit my blog at: http://kerentamir.blogspot.ca
I hope you enjoy my creations!!

"You rock my world"

Here is the first one of my layouts for this month. I used one of the Sanctuary collection paper as a background and to frame the photo.

I used the notebook edges to frame the the layout. I simply primed it in gesso and then stamped it randomly.

I used one of the Grunge Talk chipboard pieces as a title as it gave a double standard as both a title and the theme of the photo.

"Cherish"

This second layout was also designed with the new Sanctuary collection.

The photo was framed in one of the Memory Frames. The frame was painted in brown and then I randomly glued bronzed coloured micro-beads. The same was done to the Fancy signage chipboard piece.

Finally I added the "Cherish" title from the "Adore, Love, Cherish" set.

Thank you so much for visiting the Blue Fern Studios blog.

Have a wonderful day!!

January projects by Karita Vainio

Hello!
It´s Karita Vainio here with you today,
and this is my very first post as a Blue Fern Studios designer.
I´m very excited about this new journey with a new amazing team and especially with the gorgeous products.

 Here´s something about me:
I´m a bit over fourty years old. Mother to a three amazing children, two grown up boys and one teenage girl
Also I´m a wife to a kind and supportive man. We´ve been together 25 years now.
We live in southern Finland, close to our capital city, Helsinki.
We live in a small house, which we build 10 years ago.
I love to decorate our little home and in the summer I spend my time in our small garden, which is my favourite place to be and enjoying the summer.

I love creating things. I love to make layouts and cards, and sometimes I also make art journals and canvases.
I think my style is romantic mixed together with shabby and mixed media styles.
I love to use different textures in my projects and  my motto is more is better.
I´ve been crafting and scrapbooking like 7 years now and I feel like my journey has just began :)

If you like my work, you can find my blog here:

My 1st project is made by following the January sketch.

For this layout I´ve used the Correspondence and Botanical Garden papers from the new Sanctuary collection.
And the beautiful chipboards I´ve used are Notebook Edges, Arrow Words and Smile.

I´ve added white gesso on the papers and chipboards and after they dried I started adding some paints and mists.

Paper: Sanctuary collection: Correspondence, Botanical Garden
Chipboard: Notebook Edges, Arrow Words, Smile

And here´s my 2nd layout..

I`ve used the Botanical Garden and Garden Plaza papers from the Sanctuary collection.
And the great chipboards are Shabby Flakes and Roman Clock Set - small.
I´ve cutted the paper on the top a bit smaller than the bottom one and punched the edges from here and there to give a grunge effect.

Paper:  Sanctuary collection: Botanical Garden, Garden Plaza
Chipboard: Shabby Flakes, Roman Clock Set - Small

My 3rd project for this month is a canvas.

Paper I used for this canvas is Boudoir from the Blue Fern Garden collection.
Text is cutted from the Calling card from the Sanctuary collection.
And I just loved these gorgeous chipboards called Jasmine Collage and Checker Bits.

For this canvas I used lots of gesso and modelling paste.
And mists and paints.

Paper: Blue Fern Garden Collection: Boudoir, Sanctuary Collection: Calling Cards
Chipboard: Jasmine Collage, Checker Bits

Inspiration from our Creative Team

Our Creative Team is crazy about Blue Fern products and we love to show off their work.  Here are some recent projects from members of our team:

Galina Sazonova used a piece from the Checkered Bits chipboard set
when she created this Christmas card.
I love the way she has items extending off the edge of the card.
Definitely a card you would want to hand-deliver.

Bente Fagerberg used an ink pad to color the title (from the Arrow Words set) and the Manor Hinges.
  Isn't this a lovely layout?

You will notice that the next three designers have all used circle frames in one way or another.  Jelissa Mei glammed up the frames she used behind her photos.

Melinda Thompson uses two Blue Fern Graduated Circles chipboard pieces to draw the eye toward the photo on this stunning layout.

And last, but not least, returning creative team member Marie-Josee Hamel also chose to use one of the Graduated Circles as a frame for the focal point of her layout.

We hope you enjoyed this inspiration from our Creative Team and found some new ways to use Blue Fern chipboard on your layouts and cards.

Today We Feature YOU!

We love sharing projects created by our Design Team, but we are also always on the look out for layouts, cards, etc. created by those of you who purchase our products.  You do amazing things with Blue Fern paper and chipboard.  Today, we would like to share some of the projects we have found on blogs, in galleries, on Facebook, etc.

Yana Smakula of Ukraine created 3 lovely holiday cards using non-holiday themed Blue Fern chipboard as the focal point on her cards.  Isn't it beautiful the way she dressed up the cards with chipboard?

We spotted the following layout on Amy Lassiter's blog.  We immediately noticed that the paper is from our Sanctuary line.

This layout by Наталья Трофимова was an entry in our December Sketch Challenge.  She chose to use paper from the Ombre Dreams collection as a background for these sweet photos.

Bonnie Friesen of Canada shared this elegant wedding layout with us on our Facebook page.  She used paper from the Ombre Dreams collection and the stunning Blue Fern Frame in the background.

And take a look at this sweet little guy!

And the final layout today was found in an online gallery.  The background is a beautiful paper from our Ombre Dreams collection.  We just love how the two chipboard pieces were altered to coordinate perfectly with the background!

Thanks for making us look so good!
