'Treasured Memories' by Marta Lapkowska / mixed media background tutorial

Hello everyone,
It's Marta Lapkowska here.
I hope you are doing great.
I am back to you with my new page and full video tutorial.
You can see my creative process step by step.

This is one of my favourite photos. I enjoyed creating mixed media background to this photo by adding layers of chipboards and modeling paste. For extra texture I added some micro beads.

I love creating my backgrounds matching the photo. I wanted to achieve some magical scenery for my beautiful photograph.

I hope you will enjoy my video tutorial where you can see the whole creative process.

Hugs, Marta xx

Look What We Found!

Okay, it's safe to say that we love Blue Fern products, but we REALLY love seeing how all of you use our paper, chipboard, and stamps.  So, we like to take a little time each month to show you a few layouts that have caught our eye on blogs, online galleries, etc.

Former Blue Fern Creative Team member, Ulrika, of Sweden, created this stunning layout using strips of Blue Fern patterned paper, and some chipboard pieces, which she has painted.

This beautiful layout was created by Babi using paper from our very first paper collection, Blue Fern Garden.  I'm sure many of you remember this gorgeous paper.  Babi also used a Blue Fern chipboard Adore word for her title.

The talented Robin Shakoor has created his dainty layout using paper from the Montage collection.  We love all the fussy cutting!

We found this layout on Mia's blog and immediately fell in love with it.  She has so wonderfully used paper from our very popular Deja Vu collection.

Speaking of the Deja Vu collection, here is another sweet layout we found on Dana Tatar's Blog.  If you visit her blog, you will see several other layouts she has created using Deja Vu.

Take a look at how Tracy McLennon of Canada has used the  elegant Circle Flourish chipboard frame on this unique circular layout.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Keep sharing your projects online, and we will keep looking for them!

August projects & Video tutorial by Marilyn

Hi everyone!!  Marilyn  here with you today  to share two projects and a video tutorial using the beautiful Frolic collection.

DREAM

I recently traveled to Colombia to give workshops in a scrapbooking event in this country.  It was a wonderful experience and I want to make an album with all these lovely memories from the different places that I've been visited and here's my first page with a lovely memory with three new friends..I'm with the other two  teachers and the owner of the event.
I selected the Graduated Squares chipboards to create the design in my page.   You will see all the work process of this page in my video tutorial that I hope you  find some inspiration! :)

My title the word "Dream" that I applied stickels  but I can't captured the "frost"effect with the camera.

I love the Bird Ornaments and I applied stickles, too.

 LIFETIME
For my second project I worked a page  without lot of layers just more simple like I want my life lately, it is a photo that hubby took me a week ago while I was celebrating my birthday and although isn't a perfect photo I wanted to document. I'm celebrating and enjoying everything lately, a new day, the new opportunities, the little things in life...
I selected the calling cards papers...I just love it!!! and to complete my design I chose the beautiful Royal Monarch chipboards.
My title is from the Chunky words chipboard...the lifetime word that I gave a coat of gesso then I applied two colors of embossing powder in rose and white and I did the same technique to the butterflies, too.

I embossed  with the Journey stamp around my photo  .

Frolic and More with Sandi Clarkson

Hello, everyone!
Sandi here with you today sharing my August projects!

"Capture the Moment"

The B side of the Frolic Friendship paper is so gorgeous and I thought it would make a lovely background for this photo of my brother and youngest niece. I wanted to go with a bit of a monochromatic feel, so my chipboard was altered to blend in with the paper colors.

The Jeweled Frame was so perfect for my photo because 1.) it is elegant and 2.) our family name is "Key." I kept my alterations pretty simple with mists and inks but did add some microbeads here and there throughout the entire page. You can also see the use of the Halftone stamp.

This is a close-up of the Memories Captured title piece which is a nice 2 piece set.

Blue Fern products used:
Paper:
Frolic Friendship
Frolic Adorn both sides
Frolic Calling Cards

Chipboard:
Jeweled Frame
Memories Captured

Stamp:
Halftone

"Smile"

I tried to go Clean and Simple on this layout. This beautiful damask paper from the Frolic collection, Petits Moments, is just divine and can stand on its own. Also, I wanted simple backdrop for the Timeless Floral Corner chipboard. I added a little bit of mixed media and did some stamping with the "Forever" stamp to add dimension. The Geometric Bits were misted and used as layers.

Isn't that Corner piece awesome? So much beautiful detail! There are so many ways to alter this one but  I used mists, dimensional beads and some old nearly dried up glitter paint.  Loving this fun photo of two of the grandkids!

Microbeads are a fun way to add a little umph to your chipboard without really doing too much .. just gel and beads and you're done!

'Everyday Moments"

My next project was done with the Paisley and Vine collection. It was "in progress" when my Frolic collection arrived and I set it aside to work on a Frolic project for you. So, I decided to go back and finish this one up!

I actually embossed the Frolic Bird Ornament this time! But the Treasured Floral Frame is fairly plain. Just gessoed and then some color added to the floral part with water colors. And also a dab of embossing on the ends.

My Sweet Arrow Word was colored with water colors.  I also took this opportunity to use up some older flowers that were in my stash. Yay for that!

Bente's August post using Frolic and Paisley & Vine.

Hi, Bente here saying hello!
Today I have a couple of pages to share with you that use the two latest collections
called Frolic and Paisley & Vine.
These are both sooo beautiful and Frolic is possibly the most beautiful collection EVER!!!

I used the sheet Friendship from the Frolic collection and the word peeking out from below the photo is part of the Memeory Frames set. I painted it blue as I did with part of the title chipboard Frolic in the Sun. As an added decoration i used the beautiful Boston Lattice.

In this close up you can see how I painted the title and also how I clear embossed my lattice piece with utee after painting it white.

I just love this shot of my DD from a couple of summers back :-)

I picked some colours that work well with the photo and had a play on the background. I made the tiny splashes with my old discarded tooth brush like my FIL once taught me.

One last look :-)

My second page is to remind me of a wonderful day not long ago when we celebrated my eldest DD's graduation in the UK.

I used Passion, Playing cards and Splendor from the Paisley & Vine line for my graduation-page.

I thought the  Destination Labels were perfect for this. I mixed some paint to get one similar to the teal of the collection. And I used a black pen to outline the letters etc.

I like this photo so much I had to scrap three of it :-)

I added pop dots to raise some of my page- elements and create more dimension.

That's all from me today. Thanks for taking a look!!
